The St. Louis Classical Guitar Society
Master Classes
|
This series is presented at, and co-hosted by,
local university music departments. Four local pre-selected
students from intermediate to advanced levels
perform a piece of music from the classical guitar
repertory that they have prepared in advance. They are
then given musical and technical coaching from the
featured artist for 25-30 minutes each. Students interested
in performing for these classes are accepted on a
space available basis, and on the recommendation of
their teachers. First preference for performance spots
is given to Society Members.
The Guitar Society offers a Master Class Series which
affords top local students (college or community members) to
be coached by the same world-class performers who appear
on our Great Artist series. The cost to attend for both performing
or auditing is just $5, and free to Guitar Society Members.
Master classes are not just for aspiring performers; the
"Master" in master classes refers to the featured artist. Anyone
interested in understanding more about the music for the guitar,
and how it should be played and interpreted, will benefit
from observing this process as an auditor, and we encourage
your attendance. Advance reservations are not necessary.
