Highlights: Muisc for two guitars by the Hugarian romantic composer Johannn Kaspar Mertz (c.1840–1856). Performances by Raphaella Smits and Adrian Brogna, and Johannes Moller with Laura Fraticelli.
Highlights: A show featuring the phenomenal Brasil Guitar Duo, João Luiz and Douglas Lora. Program includes music from Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco: The Well-Tempered Guitar: 24 Preludes and Fugues; Douglas Lora: Brazilian Fugues: Cantiga; Baião; and Marlos Nobre: Ciclos Nordestinos: I. Samba Matuto; IV. Priana; V. Martelo. Also from Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco: Sonata Canonica, op. 196.
Highlights: We feature the phenomenal Chinese guitarist Xuefei Yang as she performs music of Isaac Albeniz. Highlights: Our Second Anniversary show for INSIDE CLASSICAL GUITAR! Recorded performances of the performers to open the Society's 2015-16 Season: Johannes Möller performs Introduction and Variations on a Theme from C.M. von Weber's opera " Der Freischütz," as well as the cadenza from the Concerto for Guitar and Small Orchestra by Heitor Villa-Lobos; Tanja and Darka Mirić perform Spanish Dance #2 of Enrique Granados, plus Micropieza #5 of Leo Brouwer; and assorted Brazilian music from the Brasil Guitar Duo, João Luiz and Douglas Lora.
Highlights: The Carrullists vs. The Molinists. A program of guitar concertos from Ferdinando Carulli and Francesco Molino, as John Clayton describes the avid guitar rivalry that existed in Paris in the 1830's betewwn the followers of Carulli and Molino.
Highlights: Our Show features the virtuoso performers of the Assad Family from Brasil: "The Family Assad." We'll hear brothers Sergio and Odair, along with sister Badi in a phenomenal assortment of Brazilan music-making.
