Highlights: We take a trip "down under" to Australia and listen to performances by guitarist Karin Schaupp and Saphire: The Australian Guitar Quartet, the #1 best-selling classical music ensemble in Australia, consisting of Karin and quartet members Gareth Koch, Anthony Field, and Slava Grigoryan. Also featured are Australian composers Philip Houghton, Richard Charlton, and quartet member Gareth Koch.
Highlights: The One-year Anniversary Show! We revisit our beginnings with a return to our first interview guest, Christopher Parkening, speaking of his personal relationship to Andres Segovia, Chris' emphasis on the pursuit of excellence in his approach to music, and the reason he has decided to retire from the concert stage. And we listen again to his legendary recordings from his extensive concert career spanning nearly fifty years.
Program Highlights: A look back at the recording of a special performance entitled "Guitar Summit" in 1997, featuring local St. Louis performers Bill Park, Dave Black, the Kirk Hanser-John McClellan Guitar Duo, and Amir Arb with Groupo Mediterraneo. Includes conversation with the artists.
Highlights: We continue our exploration of the legacy of guitarist John C. Williams with selections from his album "John Williams Plays the Movies." Hear John's arrangements both solo and for orchestra of themes from such classic films such as Casablanca, The Sting, It Had To Be You, Parapluies de Cherbourg, Once Upon A Time in the West, The Deer Hunter, and more.
Highlights: We celebrte the musical career of British guitarist John Williams, who recently announced his retirement from active touring. We sample a wide variety of music from his Baroque, Spanish, Latin American, and other groundbreaking recordings made over a 55 year career!
Highlights: Bill Ash and John Clayton preview the newest album by Jason Vieaux on the Azika label, entitled "Play." It consists of Jason's encores and most-requested pieces.
Highlights: Part 2 of our 2014-15 Seasonal Preview features music by Martha Masters, Fabio Zanon, and Angel Romero!
Highlights: An announcement of the 2014-2015 Guitar Season in St. Louis, with recorded perfromances by the first three of the six seasonal artists: former St. Louisan Douglas Niedt, Brazilian guitarist Odair Assad, and the Cavatina Flute and Guitar Duo featuring Spaniard Eugenia Molinor, flute, with Bosnian guitarist Denis Azabagic.
